Manjari means pearl. It is also the name of a poetic metre in Malayalam. This is a multipurpose font suitable for
body
and titles. This font is
available in regular, bold, thin style variants. The glyph shapes follow a spiral theme, true to the beautiful
curves
of Malayalam. The glyphs are equal width with
rounded terminals. The font has comprehensive glyph set including all widely used ligatures. Apart from Malayalam,
Latin character set is also included. This font was released on July 23, 2016 and the most popular typeface among
my
typefaces.
Design
Malayalam script is known for its curly characters with beautiful loops. The script has been evolving from
rectangle
shaped to oval shaped types of varying
proportions. The popular culture is more of oval/ellipse shaped curves, mainly because writing methods using
stencils
or pens demanded less sharp corners. The character or ligature shapes have also been changing gradually towards the
shapes that are easy with pens. The Manjari font takes that to another level by smoothening all curves to its
maximum.

ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയിലെ ചേർത്തല താലൂക്കിൽ വയലാർ ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ 1928 മാർച്ച് - 25-ന് ജനിച്ചു. അച്ഛൻ വെള്ളാരപ്പള്ളി കേരളവർമ.

കവി എന്നതിലുപരി, സിനിമാഗാനരചയിതാവ് എന്ന നിലയിലാണ് വയലാർ കൂടുതൽ പ്രസിദ്ധനായത്. ആയിരത്തിൽ പരം ഗാനങ്ങൾ അദ്ദേഹം രചിച്ചു.
957-ൽ ഇ.എം.എസ് മന്ത്രിസഭയുടെ കാലത്ത് പാളയം രക്തസാക്ഷി മണ്ഡപത്തിന്റെ ഉദ്ഘാടനച്ചടങ്ങിന് അവതരിപ്പിക്കാൻ വേണ്ടി രചിച്ച "
ബലികുടീരങ്ങളേ..." എന്ന ഗാനം വൻ ജനശ്രദ്ധ പിടിച്ചു പറ്റിയിരുന്നു. അക്കാലത്ത് വയലാർ-ദേവരാജൻ മാസ്റ്റർ കൂട്ടുകെട്ട് അനേകം
ഗാനങ്ങൾ മലയാളികൾക്ക് സമ്മാനിച്ചു. പ്രവാചകൻമാരേ പറയൂ, ചന്ദ്രകളഭം ചാർത്തിയുറങ്ങും തീരം, കേരളം കേളികൊട്ടുയരുന്ന, ദേവലോക
രഥവുമായ്, കള്ളി പാലകൾ പൂത്തു, പ്രേമ ഭിക്ഷുകീ, പാലാഴിമഥനം കഴിഞ്ഞു, സന്യാസിനി, ആമ്പൽ പൂവേ, സംഗമം ത്രിവേണി സംഗമം,
കുടമുല്ല പൂവിനും, രൂപവതീ രുചിരാംഗി, തേടി വരും കണ്ണുകളിൽ, യവന സുന്ദരി എന്നിങ്ങനെ 600 ഓളം ഗാനങ്ങൾ ഈ
കൂട്ടുകെട്ടിലുണ്ടായി. ആദിയിൽ വചനമുണ്ടായി എന്ന ബാബുരാജ് ഗാനത്തിൽ പാടി അഭിനയിച്ചു. സൂര്യകാന്തി സ്വപ്നം കാണുവതാരേ,
അഞ്ജനക്കണ്ണെഴുതി, എന്നിങ്ങനെ 100 ഓളം ഗാനങ്ങൾക്ക് MS ബാബുരാജ് ഈണമിട്ടു.
The curves are constructed along the spiral segments. The resulting shapes are extra smooth. The curve perfection
resulted in whitespaces that acquired beautiful leaf and drop shapes between the bowls and loops of the script. The
spiral smoothness of curves were complemented by rounded terminals which gives very
soft feeling for the eyes.

Manjari Thin variant.

Latin and other languages
Manjari also has Latin support. The Latin glyphs are designed by following the Malayalam design. Hence, they will
have high descent values, even if unused. The modernfontstacks project (System font stack CSS organized by typeface classification for every modern OS) recommends Manjari in the font fallback for Rounded Sans Family.
A Hare was making fun of the Tortoise one day for being so slow.
"Do you ever get anywhere?" he asked with a mocking laugh.
"Yes," replied the Tortoise, "and I get there sooner than you think. I'll run you a race and prove it."
The Hare was much amused at the idea of running a race with the Tortoise, but for the fun of the thing he agreed.
So the Fox, who had consented to act as judge, marked the distance and started the runners off.
The Hare was soon far out of sight, and to make the Tortoise feel very deeply how ridiculous it was for him to try
a race with a Hare, he lay down beside the course to take a nap until the Tortoise should catch up.
The Tortoise meanwhile kept going slowly but steadily, and, after a time, passed the place where the Hare was
sleeping.
But the Hare slept on very peacefully; and when at last he did wake up, the Tortoise was near the goal.
The Hare now ran his swiftest, but he could not overtake the Tortoise in time.
